What happens if I get a flat tire?
With the VW Service+ Program, if your vehicle becomes disabled and inoperable due to a flat tire where the vehicle is not equipped with a spare tire, complimentary towing to the nearest VW dealership will be provided. When a spare tire is available, towing services will not be provided by VW Service+ Program.

I have two VW vehicles; can this be transferred between vehicles?

Program eligibility
Volkswagen customers who complete a “Qualifying Service” at a VW Service+ Program certified dealer on or after June 3rd 2024, and own or lease an “Eligible Vehicle” qualify for the VW Service+ Program.

An “Eligible Vehicle” is a Volkswagen gasoline-powered passenger vehicle that has been in service for over 2 years or 20,000 miles, whichever occurs first. Electric vehicles (EVs) are not eligible for the VW Service+ Program.
What the program covers
The VW Service+ Program offers towing coverage for a 12-month period to the nearest VW dealership in the event your vehicle is rendered inoperable due to: (1) a mechanical breakdown or (2) a flat tire if the vehicle is not equipped with a spare tire.

When does coverage begin?
The 12 months of towing coverage begins on either: (1) the date of completion of a Qualifying Service or (2) the expiration of Roadside Assistance coverage, whichever occurs later. If, after VW Service+ coverage begins, another Qualifying Service is completed, the 12-month coverage period will restart and the remainder of your previous 12-month coverage period will not carry over. If after your initial VW Service+ coverage expires, another Qualifying Service is completed, a new 12-month coverage period will begin.
If a vehicle is still eligible for the Roadside Assistance program (3 years or 36,000 miles from new vehicle in-service date [whichever occurs first] or 2 years or 24,000 miles from Certified Pre-Owned [CPO] vehicle in-service date [whichever occurs first]), the 12 months of VW Service+ Program towing coverage will begin after your Roadside Assistance coverage expires.
Example 1: If you have a vehicle that is at 30,000 miles with 6 months of Roadside Assistance coverage left and you complete a Qualifying Service, your 12 months of VW Service+ Program coverage will begin immediately after the expiration of your Roadside Assistance coverage.
Example 2: If you get your 20,000-mile Volkswagen Carefree Maintenance service done on your vehicle, you are not eligible for the VW Service+ Program towing coverage. A service covered by the Volkswagen Carefree Maintenance Program (the 1-year/10,000 mile service or the 2-year/20,000 mile service) is not considered a Qualifying Service. This is true even if the vehicle has been in service over 2 years or 20,000 miles.
Example 3: If you have a CPO vehicle that is at 50,000 miles with 8 months of Roadside Assistance coverage left and you complete a Qualifying Service, your 12 months of VW Service+ Program coverage will begin immediately after the expiration of your Roadside Assistance coverage.

- Your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) located on your registration, insurance, driver’s side door jamb, or outside windshield on the driver’s side.
- Year, model, color, and license plate number of the vehicle.
- The telephone number from which you are calling or a telephone number where you can be reached.
- Location of your vehicle (street address and nearest cross street).
- Type of service required and a brief description of the problem.
VW Service+ Program towing coverage
When you call the VW Service+ Program, towing may be provided to you for instances of mechanical breakdown and situations with a flat tire where the vehicle is not equipped with a spare tire, provided that your car is rendered inoperable.
If your vehicle becomes disabled and inoperable due to a mechanical breakdown or a flat tire where the vehicle is not equipped with a spare tire, complimentary towing to the nearest VW dealership will be provided. Winching/extrication services may be provided for vehicles within 15 feet of a paved public road only when performed in conjunction with a tow. Please note, for security reasons, towing service will not be provided to unattended vehicles—a licensed driver must accompany the vehicle at the time of towing service.
The towing coverage provided through the VW Service+ Program is limited. Volkswagen reserves the right to deny towing services in situations not meeting the VW Service+ Program criteria.
What is not covered under the VW Service+ Program?
VW Service+ does not include:
- Towing coverage for electric vehicles
- Collision towing
- Battery jump start
- Flat tire service(i.e., changing tires or towing when a spare tire is available)
- Lock-out service attempt
- Emergency fuel delivery
- Standalone winching/extrication services of any kind where a tow is not required
- The parts and/or labor costs to produce replacement keys
- Towing and road services applicable to lost or broken keys
- Towing and road services due to non-accident-related breakdowns applicable to insurance claims(e.g., vandalism, fire, flooding, etc.)
- Towing a vehicle from an authorized dealer/facility capable of providing the necessary repairs to another authorized dealer/facility for any reason
- Delivery of a battery or the cleaning of battery cables
- The cost of any parts, labor, supplies, or materials unless otherwise provided under the New Vehicle Limited Warranty
- Service to unattended vehicles(a licensed driver must be present when service is being provided)
- Fines or impound towing charges due to a violation of local laws
- Towing by anyone other than a licensed service operator, including private citizens’ assistance
- Services outside the 50 United States and Puerto Rico
- Shoveling snow to free or access a snow-bound vehicle
- Installation of snow tires, tire chains, etc.
- Transporting you to your disabled vehicle or to your home after the service has been rendered or transporting your vehicle back to you following repairs
- Service to any vehicle willfully driven into non-regularly traveled areas such as open fields, construction sites, beaches, mud-filled driveways/laneways/concession roads, vacant lots, or any other area that is inaccessible or hazardous for the service operator’s vehicle to reach
- The cost of transporting a vehicle from Puerto Rico, Hawaii, or Alaska to the U.S. mainland
- Replacement of wheel lock key due to loss or damage
Limitations of liability
The VW Service+ Program strives to provide towing services through a comprehensive network of independent service operators.
Since these operators are independent business people, Volkswagen and/or the VW Service+ Program does not assume liability for any loss or damage resulting from the rendering of such service.
All claim inquiries for damage resulting from these services must be submitted to the towing vendor within 30 days.
We encourage you to personally perform an inspection and note any existing damage to the exterior and undercarriage (where visible) of your vehicle before, while, and after your vehicle is loaded onto the vendor’s equipment.
